Pilsner Urquell beer Factory
According to documents kept in museums, it can be said that the cultivation of hops began in 859 B.C., however, its use in beer-making started in 1118. Over the centuries since then, beer was called The Drink of Kings. In the 10th century, by royal proclamation of King Wenceslas, the rights of beer production were initiated.
Another significant date in Bohemian brewing was 1842, where the brewing of a dark and cloudy beer had been in process since 1200 AD, a new kind of beer began to be brewed, popularly called Lager, or, more accurately Pilsner.
Beer for Czechs is a source of national pride, a symbol of its past and own culture. The Czech Republic is at the top of the list of beer consumption per head, and is the most extensively exported beer in the world.
